I had the flat iron steak with fine beans as a main and it was way too raw the first time round so I sent it back to the kitchen. Second time round was also too raw lol and I sent it back a third time and then it came back perfect. I also don’t eat gluten so they substituted the sauce and gave me another which was slightly spicy. Friends had risotto, oriental style chicken and lobster and all said they were good. The lobster unfortunately though is pretty small and they only give you half - you have to pay extra for a full lobster. Had the sorbet for dessert and it was delicious, as was the pinkberry mocktail.

We had issues our food having missing condiments / not what we ordered but staff came across patronising rather than apologetic, they didn’t believe us. Own experience, but I guess it depends on which staff are working when you visit! Also the weekday we went also wasn’t busy so I don’t know if that makes a difference in their customer service. Honestly I didn’t have high expectations for the food though and just thought it was going to be aesthetically pleasing. The menu is quite confusing - you actually have to order a 2 course meal minimum. Some dishes have extra costs and you also have to pay extra for sides. I had the calamari with peppers as a starter (this calamari isn’t battered like normally) and loved it.
Several times about our allergies, and agreed via phone and e-mail that each person would have a choice of a two- or three-course meal from the à la carte menu. We arrived at a scheduled reservation only to find that our table was not yet ready. It took 40 minutes(!) before the table was clear and ready, and we barely even received an apology for this. Once we were seated, a waiter who was clearly irritated with something arrived to take orders. He for some reason said that we were all having a set three-course meal, upon which I informed him that this was not what was previously agreed upon. He needed to "check with management" or some such thing before he came back and agreed, but then gave us a menu which was much more restricted than the one available online.

The Third Location
My friend has coeliac disease, which is a strict form of gluten allergy, and which the restaurant was informed of multiple times in advance of our arrival. The waiter was absolutely clueless on what gluten was or which dishes she could or could not have, and we had to send him back to the kitchen multiple times to check. Needless to say, she did not feel quite secure about her order or her food. However, the wait between dishes, for drinks, and even for the check, was RIDICULOUS.
Aside from his 30-year sentence, Kelly must also pay a $100,000 fine. I loved not feeling any pressure while I was looking for a couch! Ideas were brought up to me that I hadn't even considered. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District reported that Houston Middle School, located in the town of Houston, was severely damaged, and students were forced to merge with their high school for the remainder of the year. Colony Middle School students were the last to return to learning. Severe damage to several buildings and a highway overpass near Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport was reported. There were no fatalities, but at least 117 people were injured, mostly for minor injuries such as cuts, bruises or anxiety.
Anchorage earthquake left crumbling buildings, collapsed roofs and damaged roads
Where these two plates meet, the dense oceanic rocks of the Pacific thrust under the more buoyant continental rocks of Alaska. The quake was a type that usually produces less vertical motion, which means less chance for waves to build for a tsunami, said Paul Earle, a seismologist with the U.S. That was somewhat unusual, because quakes in the area usually are a type that cause more vertical motion and increase the chance for a tsunami, he said.

Damage
As the EarthScope Transportable Array project added new seismic stations in previously unmonitored areas, we noticed an upward trend of detectable earthquakes from around the state. The westernmost Aleutians megathrust earthquake followed a year later on February 4, 1965. This M8.7 Rat Islands earthquake was characterized by roughly 600 km of rupture. Although this event is quite large, damage was low owing to the region's remote and sparsely inhabited location. A relatively small tsunami was recorded throughout the Pacific Ocean with run-up heights up to 10.7 m on Shemya Island and flooding on Amchitka Island.
They have some damage and flights may be impacted, travelers should call their individual carriers. Bridges and roadways north of Talkeetna have been reviewed and are clear. Roads in the Anchorage area and some leading to the airport are impassible.

In the Anchorage community of Eagle River, at least one home collapsed during the earthquake. One man in the home, whose spouse was at work, was able to escape with several pets. DOT&PF Maintenance and Construction crews are now actively working the eight major damage sites. Aftershocks are continuing to contribute to settling and additional cracking. After this earthquake, we will need to make repairs to some bridges to ensure they are safe for the traveling public.
DOT&PF and DOA continue to work together to ensure all workplaces are safe for employees and the public to return and are working to limit traffic on the Glenn Highway. Please report property damage to your department Administrative Service Director directly. ASDs are creating comprehensive lists of damage to be forwarded on to SSOA and Risk Management. We have some additional work in the SB today, but will open up to three lanes as soon as we can. Employees are expected to verify if their regular work site has been inspected and cleared. Please note that the following lists are being actively updated.
Earthquake
While these models are relatively simple, initial reports support these conclusions. A tsunami warning was initially activated for the Cook Inlet area and Southern Kenai Peninsula, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, but it was lifted about 90 minutes after the initial shock. The Volcano Observatory combines these with other observations, including geology, satellite imagery, ground deformation and local observations to assess volcano hazards. The vigor of these faults, and our knowledge of them, generally decreases toward the north, although the impact of this compression can be traced all the way into the Arctic Ocean. Meanwhile, this northwest motion of the Pacific Plate exerts tremendous force on Alaska, compressing the land in a north-south direction and shearing or tugging southern Alaska to the west.
Examples of this type of earthquake include the 1964 magnitude 9.2 Good Friday Earthquake and the 1965 magnitude 8.7 Rat Islands Earthquake, the second and eighth largest earthquakes ever recorded worldwide. It prompted the warning across thousands of miles of Alaska's southern coast, from Attu in the Aleutian Islands to Canada's border with Washington state. Kodiak is about 200 miles south of Anchorage, the state's largest city, which was not under a tsunami threat. "Earthquake-damaged Mat-Su school to remain closed the rest of the school year". Over 80 aftershocks of various magnitudes were recorded throughout the day, with at least three having magnitudes greater than 5.0.
DOT&PF has documented over 40 damage sites on transportation infrastructure. DOT&PF has documented approximately 50 sites of potential damage sites. Northbound Briggs Bridge on Eagle River Loop Road is now closed. If a bridge is determined to be unsafe to travel over , we will close the area to travel. If the bridge is determined to be structurally sound, it will remain open.

This is a different mechanism than megathrust faults in the region, which do occur on the plate boundary itself. This faulting in the Pacific Plate is caused by downward bending while the plate is being forced under Alaska. Southern Alaska lies at the eastern end of the Aleutian Trench, where the Pacific Plate is subducting beneath the North American Plate. Near Anchorage, the plates are converging at a rate of 57 mm per year. The region has experienced severe earthquakes in the past, including several megathrust earthquakes. The 1964 earthquake, with a magnitude of 9.2, was the largest earthquake in American history and the second largest to ever be recorded anywhere in the world.
In addition, Matanuska Electric Association reported that 46,000 customers were left without electricity immediately after the earthquake. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.1 on the moment magnitude scale using a centroid moment tensor inversion of the W-phase. The focal mechanism shows that the earthquake was a result of normal faulting.
The city announced that regular bus service would resume the following day, and would be free of charge for the two days following the earthquake to help city residents get around on damaged roads. DOT&PF Maintenance and Construction crews are actively working the eight major damage sites . Earthquake aftershocks are continuing to contribute to settling and additional cracking. Hydrogeologic responses to earthquakes have been known for decades, and have occurred both close to, and thousands of miles away from earthquake epicenters. When earthquakes do occur, rapid reporting allows the public and emergency managers to assess the potential impacts.
We will minimize haul times by using the closest available asphalt plant as much as possible. We can add chemicals to the asphalt that will allow it to be compacted at lower temperatures than usual, which will give us more time to compact. Weather predictions are not favorable so please take extra precautions when traveling the roadways. Many times, in an emergency, we need to reach you during off-hours.

Hundreds gathered in local schools, which were opened as evacuation shelters, in Kodiak, Seward, and Homer. Evacuees seeking higher ground filled local roads and the parking lots of supermarkets, while locals reported large numbers of evacuees parking near a wind farm on Pillar Mountain near Kodiak. An unrelated power outage at the Alaska Earthquake Center in Fairbanks caused some alerts to be delayed, while its website was overwhelmed by the number of users. The National Weather Service sent emergency alerts to cell phones in Alaska, reading, "Emergency Alert. Tsunami danger on the coast. Go to high ground or move inland."
The Alaska mainland is crosscut by numerous fault systems that accommodate this compression and shearing. In the popular cruise-ship town of Seward, about 110 miles south of Anchorage, Fire Chief Eddie Athey said the quake felt like a gentle rattle that lasted for up to 90 seconds. By the time customers started arriving, the excitement had passed and people just sat around quietly eating their meals, speaking little of the quake. In the nearby Matanuska-Susitna Borough, multiple roads were closed, collapsed and cracked. Two of the city’s main hospitals were damaged, but their emergency rooms remained open.

All sport practices and events originally scheduled for Friday were canceled, including a complimentary performance of the Homer Nutcracker Ballet for families and others. All afternoon classes for Title 1, preschool and special education preschool were also cancelled Friday. Once they realized the power was out and the conference was canceled, Spencer said he and Rieske decided there was no reason to stick around. Coincidentally, he said members of NOAA were also in attendance at the conference, and were able to let everyone know they were safe from a tsunami at their location. Someone shouted for everyone to get out, so Spencer and Rieske exited the café.
Despite the obliquity of convergence, active volcanism and megathrust earthquakes are also present along this margin. The newsroom studio of KTVA in Anchorage was heavily damaged, but the channel remained on the air. The Alaska Airlines Center, a large sports complex on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus, flooded due to broken fire sprinkler pipes. UAA's older Wells Fargo Sports Complex suffered similar damage. In South Anchorage, Dimond High School had ceiling tiles and other debris littering the floor throughout the campus.

The central Aleutian arc extends from the Andreanof Islands in the east to the Rat Islands in the west. Here, motion is characterized by westward-increasing oblique convergence and Pacific plate subduction beneath thin oceanic lithosphere. Along this portion of the arc, the Wadati-Benioff zone is well defined to depths of approximately 200 km.
Anchorage Earthquake
Most of these earthquakes—and all major earthquakes—can be traced to the movement of tectonic plates. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities moved quickly to inspect bridges and begin road repairs. Despite not normally paving during winter, area asphalt plants were restarted and within days sufficient repairs were made to reopen several heavily damaged roads. The first major aftershocks occurred 20 minutes after the earthquake.
A fault dipping at 29° towards the east gives the best match to the observed seismic waveforms. The depth and mechanism are consistent with faulting within the down-going Pacific Plate. This implies that the earthquake was an intraslab earthquake within that plate, rather than at the plate boundary between the Pacific and North American Plates beneath the Anchorage area.
The Palmer exit at the Glenn/Parks interchange is now OPEN to one lane of traffic. We still advise you to avoid the area if possible and only travel if it is absolutely necessary. In extreme cases, bridge inspectors can close a bridge to ensure your safety. Every single one of our bridges is inspected by bridge engineers at least every two years. They identify problems, if there are any, and repairs are prioritized and scheduled.
The Earthquake Center detects an earthquake every fifteen minutes, on average. In 2018, we reported an all-time high of over 54,000 earthquakes in Alaska. As our monitoring network improves, we report more earthquakes because we are able to detect smaller earthquakes across more of the state.
A tsunami warning was initially activated for the Cook Inlet area and Southern Kenai Peninsula, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, but it was lifted about 90 minutes after the initial shock. The Volcano Observatory combines these with other observations, including geology, satellite imagery, ground deformation and local observations to assess volcano hazards. The vigor of these faults, and our knowledge of them, generally decreases toward the north, although the impact of this compression can be traced all the way into the Arctic Ocean. Meanwhile, this northwest motion of the Pacific Plate exerts tremendous force on Alaska, compressing the land in a north-south direction and shearing or tugging southern Alaska to the west.
Residents of Anchorage, Alaska, had barely had begun their workday when the ground began violently shaking Friday. But he also deeply enjoys life in his coastal town, he said; he can kite-ski, kayak, surf, hike. He particularly enjoys long rides along scenic Alaska highways on his motorcycle. The Anchorage fire chief, Jodie Hettrick, urged residents who had experienced any anxiety or trouble sleeping after the quake to pursue mental health services. Aftershocks on Friday night in particular kept many people awake. Alaska became a state in 1959, but it remains deeply misunderstood by many Americans who have never lived there.
